The benefits of working out with kettlebells are numerous.
Here are 5 of our favorite.
HIIT HART’s Top 5 Benefits Of Working Out With Kettlebells
1) Kettlebells increase your power
So many traditional kettlebell exercises are variations of Olympic lifts which are designed to develop explosiveness and power. Just think of the classic kettlebell swing and the explosiveness of the hip flexors to swing the weight up. And that’s just one example. You have to think you’ve also got the kettlebell snatch and the kettlebell clean.
2) Kettlebells improve your grip strength
When compared to traditional dumbbells, kettlebells have a much thicker handle and this is important as the thicker handle makes it harder to hold. This results in you, by the very nature of exercising with kettlebells, improving your grip strength significantly.
But why’s grip strength so important?
Because it’s an important indicator of your overall health. In fact, studies have discovered that a strong grip correlates with a lowered risk of strokes and heart attacks.
3) Kettlebell training can be done anywhere
This is hands down our favorite benefit of the 5. Obviously having been in the military you’re sort of forced to maintain this nomadic, minimalistic lifestyle and kettlebells fit in so perfectly.
No bulky, heavy plates that need to be transported is such an overlooked convenience.
All you need are two kettlebells (we recommend 35 pound kettlebells for men and 25 pound kettlebells for women) and you’re set.
You could workout in the barracks, in your living room, at the gym, at a park, in your hotel room if you’re traveling. You get the idea. And the easier something is to do the more likely you are to do it.
4) Kettlebell workouts are more efficient
This kind of ties into benefit 3 but kettlebell workouts are just more efficient. You’re easily able to flow from one movement into the next eliminating time while still getting the same effectiveness of a traditional workout but adding in the element of cardio because you’re naturally resting less.
5) Kettlebells increase your endurance
Our kettlebell workouts combined with traditional movements like kettlebell swings provide a low-impact form of cardio when compared to high-impact cardio activities such as running.
